Kellie Rucker has been a life long Detroiter and in the workforce since a teenager. She has worked in various sectors from retail, banking,nursing,and beauty. Throughout all her endeavors one thing is common and that is her connection to people. It is this quality that has helped Kellie excel in her career choices. Kellie has worked for companies such as Chirstian Dior, Sephora, The BodyShop, PUR Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Japonseque.
She also has worked for world class travel retailers opening the first North American Estee’ Lauder beauty complex inside a major metropolitian airport (DTW). This complex contains 10 Estee Lauder brands that Kellie educated and serviced to world travelers. She was also the union rep for the artists in the complex being the liasion to upper management in the artistry side as well as the retail company Hudson Group. As a part of being the union rep she also sat at negotiations advocating for the rights of the artists and better pay.
She later moved on to become the Assistant Store Manager to The Bodyshop inside DTW for 2 years mastering her leadership skills by educating staff on makeup application techniques causing an increase in the make up sales category for that location.While at The BodyShop Kellie Advocated for campaigns such as no animal testing,racial inequality, and protecting our planet. She also played a key role in attaining awards for most conversion growth within a year.
That role led to her becoming an Make up Educator for Japonseque traveling throughout her district MIchigan/Ohio to Salon Centrics teachings classes. Now Kellie wants to devote her time into creating opportunities for black people in the beauty industry. After seeing voids in certain areas she decided to create a platform to educate black people on all aspects of the industry to create space for diversity.
